Civic Engagement Corner
New York Institute of Technology is dedicated to uplifting and supporting change-makers, doers, and innovators from the moment they step on campus.
Civic and community engagement is a key part of this process, reminding everyone how they can鈥攁nd should鈥攂e the change they want to see in the world.
Civic engagement describes the way citizens are involved in their communities. Citizenship does not refer only to what your passport says; you are also a citizen of your neighborhood, 色界吧, your individual classes, your discipline, and more. Civic engagement involves a wide variety of activities. There are easy ways to get started, and many people are already engaged, even if they don’t know it. Volunteering, reading, attending meetings, joining your professional association, voting, and signing a petition are all civic engagement activities.
Heightening the political awareness of our campus community will allow our ambitious students to give back to their communities well beyond the scope of their careers!
The Civic Engagement Corner will host a library of growing resources and links to ensure that eligible members of the 色界吧 community are registered to vote, promote a higher sense of civic responsibility and political awareness, and encourage critical dialogue on campus.
