Gebre says that the program is crucial for new students鈥� successful integration into campus life, because while they might go to their professors or other staff for certain concerns, 鈥渢here are a lot of things where they may feel more comfortable reaching out to a peer.鈥�

Kapavarapu, a peer success guide herself, is paying it forward in her role, as she remembers how helpful it was to have a patient, caring person by her side during her first year at 色界吧. A student she once supported is now also a guide: 鈥淚 used to teach him, and now he has become somebody that we teach [others] together.鈥�
