Maria Perbellini, Ph.D., dean of the School of Architecture and Design, was invited to the conference in Italy as a panelist on October 1, 2020. She spoke on the female perspective as first step towards a more radical and resilient city.

Marcella Del+Signore

School of Architecture & Design School of Architecture & Design Architecture

Marcella Del Signore, associate professor of architecture, had her book (co-edited with Nancy Diniz and Frank Melendez), published on September 30, 2020. The book presents a comprehensive overview of current design processes that rely on the input of data and use of computational design strategies and their relationship to an array of outputs. It includes a wide range of curated projects and contributed texts by leading architects, urbanists, and designers that transform data as an abstraction into spatial, experiential, and performative configurations within urban ecologies, emerging materials, robotic agents, adaptive fields, and virtual constructs.

Kevin LaGrandeur, Ph.D., professor of English, was interviewed for a on September 28, 2020. He spoke about ancient robots and the development of robots and artificial intelligence.

Deborah Cohn

School of Management

Deborah Y. Cohn, Ph.D., professor of management and marketing studies, Birasnav Muthuraj, Ph.D., assistant professor of management and marketing studies, and Joshua E. Bienstock, L.L.M., J.D., associate professor of human resource management, were awarded a 2020 Fulbright-Hays Program Grant on September 28, 2020, for their proposal, “Academia and Society - Collaboration Across Borders: A Virtual Exchange Program,” by the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Consulate of São Paulo, Brazil. The program, a collaboration with Associação Cultural De Renovação Tecnológica Sorocabana - Acrts, Facens - Faculty of Engineering of Sorocaba, will partially fund a two-semester (spring 2021 and fall 2021) virtual cultural exchange program. The grant, one of four out of fifty that have been funded, will divide $13,966 between Facens ($5,475) and É«½ç°É ($8,521). Rosi Vieira and Noemi Fontao are the program leaders from Facens.
