Kapil Bajaj, MCTP, director of academic and research technology at NYITCOM-Arkansas, was awarded Fellow status from , on January 14, 2022. This designation indicates professional status and advancement within the HIMSS professional society and is bestowed in recognition of service, professional participation, job experience, publications, and presentations.

School of Architecture And Design

William Gati, adjunct associate professor of architecture, received the , recognizing notable contributions and accomplishments by\nan architectural educator in New York State, on January 11, 2022.

Steven Shapiro

Management

Steven J. Shapiro, Ph.D., professor of accounting and finance, and Nikanor Volkov, associate professor of finance at Mercer University, presented "Diversification Discounts and the Valuation of Businesses: An Industry Level Approach"\nduring a remote National Association of Forensic Economics Association Session at the Allied Social Science Associations Annual Meeting on January 9, 2022. The presentation by Shapiro and Volkov was based on a working paper that they co-authored with Garrett Smith, associate professor of finance at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Hyun-Tae Jung

School of Architecture and Design

Hyun-Tae Jung, Ph.D., associate professor of architecture, appeared in a special documentary at the beginning of the year titled Seoul, Longing for Multi-layered City, featured on South Korean TV on the Maeil Broadcasting Network, Inc. (MBN), where he discussed the future of contemporary cities including New York and Seoul, on January 3, 2022.

Kate E. O'Hara

College of Arts and Sciences

Kate E. O鈥橦ara, Ph.D., associate professor of interdisciplinary studies, published her chapter 鈥淭ranscending and Transforming: Teaching and Learning in the Time of Covid 19,鈥 in the edited volume, from Information Age Publishing on December 30, 2021. O鈥橦ara鈥檚 chapter is part of a scholarly collection of creative pieces; stories of lived curricula. The chapter is a shared narrative, interspersed with writing and anecdotes from undergraduate students working remotely on a service-learning project. The shared narrative illuminates experiences of overcoming challenges while sheltering in place, contextualized in relation to Friere and van Manen, and identifying and articulating personal transformations.

Deborah Y. Cohn, Ph.D., interim dean of the School of Management and professor of marketing, had her research featured in the article, on News24.com, South Africa's premier news source, on December 23, 2021.

Felipe Henao

Student Engagement & Development

Felipe Henao, Ed.D., dean of students, was recently accepted as a content expert for with a focus on addressing student basic needs, and is now working on a project to address student success primarily for adult learners at historically Black colleges. He was also selected as Long Island's Business News Class of 2021 40 under 40 Recipient, on December 14, 2021.

Amanda Golden, Ph.D., associate professor of English, Department of Humanities, had her monograph, , (hardcover, 2020), published in paperback by Routledge on December 13, 2021.

'Paul Ferrante

Student Life

Paul Ferrante, was elected to the LICSPA Executive Board as Vice President of Marketing and Communications on December 10, 2021, effective on January 1, 2022. He will be overseeing all communications directed for member institutions while maintaining the LICSPA website and branding. The executive board is made up of staff and faculty members from SUNY Old Westbury, Manhattanville College, Hofstra University, and St. John's University.
