College of Arts and SciencesEdward Guiliano, Ph.D., president emeritus and professor of English in the Department of Humanities, published his 鈥渞eview鈥 of George Eliot鈥檚 Middlemarch in the Dickens Studies Annual: Essays on Victorian Fiction, Vol. 53, no. 2, 2022, pp. 299-303. The article, published on September 1, 2022, celebrated the occasion of the novel's 150th anniversary of publication. Guilano's Lewis Carroll: The Worlds of His Alices was earlier in the year by Jan Susina in Victorian Studies, Spring 2022 (64:3), 499-502.

Karen Vahey
EnrollmentKaren Vahey, Ed.D., dean of admissions and financial aid, has been selected to serve on the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) for the 2022-2023 academic year. The appointment was announced on August 10, 2022. This committee will be tasked with helping NACAC operationalize the recommendations included in the NACAC-NASFAA report, "Toward a More Equitable Future for Postsecondary Access," focusing on the inclusion of students in the development of college admission counseling policies and practices, particularly where questions of equity are involved. The committee will create a framework for institutions to use in identifying student populations for inclusion, structuring conversations with students, and integrating student recommendations into policy and practice.
Radoslaw Nowak
School of ManagementRadoslaw (Radek) Nowak, Ph.D., associate professor of human resource studies, presented his paper, at the , the most prestigious annual academic conference in the area of business and management, virtually, on August 8, 2022. In his research, Nowak investigates the effect of speed in strategic decision-making—how quickly firms implement key changes in their business strategy—and how it impacts organizational performance.
Claude Gagna
CAS / Biological and Chemical SciencesClaude E. Gagna, Ph.D., professor of biological and chemical sciences, published a peer-reviewed abstract in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology (i.e., Society for Investigative Dermatology, 2022 Annual Meeting) entitled , on August 1, 2022. Data from this research project shows, for the first time, the presence and distribution of three totally different structures of DNA molecules within normal human skin. These DNAs (canonical, alternative, and multistranded DNAs) were characterized simultaneously within the nucleus of cells, allowing for studies on gene expression between different forms of DNA.

School of Health ProfessionsShinu Kuriakose, DHSc, PA-C, associate professor of physician assistant studies, published an article, "Assessing the Effect of the COVID-19 Outbreak on Didactic Education and Mental Health of Physician Assistant Students in the New York City Region," in the Journal of Physician Assistant Studies on July 20, 2022. The article was written in collaboration with Stony Brook and Hofstra Universities.
